With 50 electric ID.Buzz campervans through the Netherlands: the Outbase Rally 2026

For the second Outbase Rally and camping weekend, we travelled through the Netherlands with 50 electric ID.Buzz campervans, from North Holland, across the Afsluitdijk, to a beautiful nature campsite on the Veluwe.

We really enjoyed this weekend, filled with nothing but positive energy. Customers enthusiastically talking about their Outbase campervan, to each other and to us. A large part of Team Outbase was there, and we really got to know each other better. Not only as customers and builders, but above all as people who share the same love for freedom, travel and the outdoors.

Directly to the aftermovie

On the way to the Veluwe: a look behind the scenes at Karsten Tents

After a joint start in Utrecht, the 50 Outbase campervans drove towards the Veluwe via dikes, villages and the Afsluitdijk. Along the way, we enjoyed the beauty of the Netherlands. The rally booklet with the route included several photo stops, but everyone was free to choose their own stops along the way. In the end, this resulted in a wonderful collection of surprising locations and original entries for the photo contest.

We also made a stop at Karsten Tents, the producer of our tent fabric. During a guided tour, we got a look behind the scenes. It was very impressive to see how broadly Karsten has developed over the years. From camping tents to tents and mobile workspaces for the police, fire brigade and defence. Almost everything is still handmade, and the craftsmanship truly stands out.

Karsten was also kind enough to make their canteen available for an organic lunch, prepared by a local entrepreneur. We gathered around the tables together, exchanged experiences, and continued talking about travel and camper solutions.

Gluren bij de buren, in other words, peeking into your neighbours van

During Gluren bij de Buren, several customers opened up their vans to give others a look at their personal setup. Tim was there with his Outbase ID.Buzz to talk about his trip to Morocco, while Peter-Paul and Ellen shared stories about their camper journeys through Corsica and Scotland. Curious about their experiences? You can also read their stories on our website.

Others showed how they cleverly make space in the van for things like foldable mountain bikes, or presented their self-built Buzzbios for movie nights on the road. What made it even more special was that customers who had not signed up beforehand also spontaneously opened up their vans. That created a very natural and relaxed atmosphere, full of inspiration and smart solutions, with everyone using their camper in their own unique way.

Of course, the renewed Outbase Delta and Outbase Flow were also ready to be explored. Thanks to all the feedback, ideas and experiences shared by our customers, we can continue improving our campervans, and we are incredibly grateful for that.

Campfire, music and good food

Everyone had brought something tasty, and before long the buffet was filled with all kinds of different dishes. It was great to see how much thought everyone had put into fresh ingredients and different dietary preferences, making sure there was something delicious for everyone to enjoy.

After dinner, the group slowly spread out across the campsite. People played music, laughed and enjoyed a relaxed evening together. Some stayed by the campfire late into the night, while others quietly retreated to their vans or took another walk around the campsite.

What stood out most was how natural the atmosphere felt. As if everyone had known each other for much longer, even though many people were meeting for the very first time that weekend.

Activities on Sunday

After a relaxed breakfast at the campsite, it was time to head out and do something. Time to unwind, enjoy nature or look for a bit of adventure. At the long breakfast tables, or beside their own vans, people enjoyed another coffee and of course the leftovers from the day before. Throwing food away would be a waste.

After that, everyone could join an activity that suited them. Customers had been able to sign up in advance for their favourite activity, and at 10.00 the forest ranger, wild foraging guide and meditation instructor were ready to begin, while Tim headed out with a group of mountain bikers for a ride across the Veluwe.

Afterwards, everyone shared stories and experiences from the different activities. Cycling routes and lessons from the forest ranger were discussed in detail, and the edible finds from the wild foraging were enthusiastically passed around.

All the activities turned out to be a success. After the shared programme, we closed the weekend with the award ceremony for the winning photo. The campsite remained available for the rest of the day, and with the beautiful weather, many customers happily stayed a little longer to enjoy the holiday weekend.

Out of Office Foundation

“Swap screen time for green time.” That is the mission of the Out of Office Foundation. During our Rally, Rutger and Charlotte joined on behalf of the foundation in one of the Outbase campervans, with one goal in mind: raising money for an outdoor training programme for young girls who would not normally have access to an experience like this.

Last year, many customers wanted to make a financial contribution towards the weekend. We did not feel that was necessary, because we genuinely enjoy organising it, but it did make us think. When the Out of Office Foundation crossed our path, it immediately felt like the perfect match.

Spending time outdoors, discovering new experiences, enjoying nature and learning new things: that is exactly what the foundation wants to make possible for a group of young girls as well.

Besides the fantastic amount we managed to raise together, many contacts, tips and ideas were also shared throughout the weekend. It was great to see how much enthusiasm and involvement this project created.

Of course, we could not finish this recap without sharing the winning photo with you. Choosing between all the original and colourful entries was not easy, but after a lively discussion, Jan and Saskia ultimately took home the win.

We look back with great satisfaction and pride on a special weekend filled with beautiful routes, enthusiastic stories and new connections. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this weekend such a success together.

And while we are still enjoying the memories, the first ideas for next year are already slowly starting to take shape.
