The very first Outbase Rally & Camping Weekend

A look back at a lovely weekend

The long-awaited Outbase Rally & Camping Weekend has now come to an end, and how wonderful it was to see so many ID.Buzz enthusiasts and Outbase ID.Buzz campervans together! Even better was hearing everyone speak so passionately about their Outbase ID.Buzz and share their experiences with others. That exact sense of connection and enthusiasm was what we aimed for – and it turned out even better than expected!

The start: a colourful drive in Utrecht

We kicked off the weekend at Outbase in Utrecht, where more than 30 ID.Buzz vans gathered for the rally. After everyone had their coffee, received the rally badge and the route, we set off on the first stage of our ride along scenic backroads. The parade of brightly coloured vans looked festive and immediately drew attention. Along the way, we tested our participants’ knowledge with a few questions about the surroundings. A touch of competition makes everything just a bit more fun.

Lunch in Amersfoort: sustainable and fun

Our first major stop was at Het Lokaal in Amersfoort. Here a delicious, vegetarian lunch prepared with care was waiting for us. In this restaurant, almost everything is made locally, very little is wasted, and they work in several other ways on circularity, biodiversity, and climate improvement. And not unimportant: it tasted excellent. During lunch, the ID.Buzz vans could recharge at the charging square next to the restaurant – perfectly arranged.

After lunch we headed to an Outbase partner for a special behind-the-scenes look. Divided into small groups, we were given a tour to see the transformation from a standard ID.Buzz to an Outbase campervan: the roof and windows are cut out, excess material is removed, and the new electric pop-top roof and windows are then installed in the vehicles. And the best part? Every one of our participants’ vans has passed through these very hands!

Camping in Zeewolde: sharing food, stories, and a fresh night

By late afternoon we continued our route to the campsite De Banken in Zeewolde. The sun was still shining brightly when we arrived and everyone found their spot. In no time the field was filled with vans, awnings, chairs, and cheerful people. With a drink in hand, we explored each other’s vans, because no two Outbase Buzzes are the same!

The next morning, a fresh group was ready for a forest walk guided by four nature guides. Nature campsite De Banken is located right in the middle of the Hosterwold forest, near Lake Veluwe. This is one of the largest continuous deciduous forests in the Netherlands and surprisingly beautiful. The guides showed us special trees and plants and told us the names of the birds we heard. We didn’t see any deer or foxes — it was probably a bit too late for that. A wonderful way to start the day.

Around noon the weekend came to an end. After the award ceremony for the winner of the challenges along the way and for the one with the best photo, we said our goodbyes. We look back with pride on this special weekend. We and our customers already can’t wait for the next edition. Thanks to everyone who was there and made this such a successful event.
